Great
Expectations has been a wildly popular novel written by Charles Dickens ever
since it was first published in 1860. It is an extremely well written book and
has many interesting characters and ideas. People should it, being it’s a
timeless and classic novel, however it’s hard to comprehend without the help of
a teacher or having upper hand knowledge of literature. In that case, I do not recommend
it to my peers. I’m not sure how adults feel about the book, but it would
require a lot of free time and commitment. It a lengthy novel and has many
characters, so you have to stay focused or else you’ll get easily confused.
This novel is also written in an older English dialect, so it is difficult to
grasp some of the content because you can’t understand what exactly the
characters are saying.
Charles Dickens
wrote this book to keep his readers interested; he included many plot twists
and cliffhangers. Great Expectations is very drawn out, so it’s able to fit in more
content. The lengthiness of the book makes it difficult for readers,
specifically younger ones, to lose focus easily.
Great
Expectations should definitely be continued to be read by students and adults,
however I wouldn’t particularly recommend it to a peer. The many themes of the
book make it quite fascinating, however the way it was written, difficult to
comprehend, made it be one of my favorites.
